AI4COPSEC was showcases during the United Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC3) which took place from 9-13 June in Nice, where European leaders outlined their vision for safeguarding the ocean through innovation and collaboration.
During a session organised by the Centre National d’Études Spatiales (CNES), the AI4COPSEC Technical Coordinator and CEO of eOdyn, Yann Guichoux, presented AI4COPSEC’s cutting-edge contributions to maritime safety.
In his presentation, Yann outlined how AI4COPSEC is advancing the Copernicus Security Service by integrating real-time satellite data with artificial intelligence to enhance maritime situational awareness. The project harnesses innovative algorithms to detect and analyse ocean activity, helping authorities respond more quickly to security threats, illegal activity, and environmental risks.
The session highlighted how initiatives like AI4COPSEC support the broader goals of the EU Ocean Pact, which aims to strengthen ocean sustainability through coordinated, data-driven action. The synergy between advanced analytics and space-based observation was highlighted as a key enabler for more resilient maritime operations.
