The GEO Global Forum 2025, themed “The Earth Talks,” brought together a vibrant international community of policymakers, scientists, and innovators from 5–9 May at the Auditorium della Tecnica in Rome. This year’s event marked the 20th anniversary of the Group on Earth Observations (GEO) and highlighted the global drive toward implementing the Post-2025 Strategy for Earth Intelligence.
Among the notable participants, the AI4COPSEC project stood out with its presence at the European Commission’s booth, led by the Health and Digital Executive Agency (HaDEA). As part of a showcase featuring more than 60 cutting-edge Horizon projects, AI4COPSEC joined variouos EU-funded initiatives advancing Earth observation (EO) capabilities across Europe and beyond.
The European Union’s booth at the forum served as a central hub for exploring how EO technologies are being used to tackle some of the world’s most pressing challenges—from climate change and pollution to disaster resilience and biodiversity loss. Visitors to the stand were introduced to the contributions of AI4COPSEC, which leverages artificial intelligence to strengthen civil protection and security efforts through Earth observation data.
Projects such as Theia and Terra were also featured, offering a glimpse into the synergies within the broader EO community and the role AI4COPSEC plays in delivering actionable, real-time intelligence for societal resilience.
This year’s GEO Global Forum emphasized the need for inclusive, data-driven approaches to address the triple planetary crisis—climate change, pollution, and biodiversity degradation. With participation from global leaders, ministers, researchers, and civil society, the event served as a catalyst for shaping future collaborations and scaling EO innovations globally.

As the world looks ahead to the next phase of GEO’s strategic journey, AI4COPSEC remains at the forefront of integrating artificial intelligence with EO to empower communities and protect the planet.
