On 18 September 2025, AI4COPSEC partner AISTECH attended the commemorative event “10 Years of Copernicus at Frontex: Anniversary Event and Prize Awards”, organised by Frontex to mark a decade of collaboration between the agency and the Copernicus Programme.
The conference, held in Warsaw, brought together representatives from the European Commission, EU agencies and National Coordination Centres in an exclusive setting for networking and knowledge exchange. The conference was highly relevant for the AI4COPSEC project. The event’s focus on innovation in Earth Observation, digital twins, and multi-source data integration directly aligns with AI4COPSEC’s mission to leverage advanced AI techniques for its use cases in the maritime domain. Engaging with stakeholders such as Frontex, ESA, EFCA, and HaDEA reinforced the project’s visibility, fostered potential collaborations for data sharing and validation, and ensured that
AI4COPSEC’s developments remain consistent with EU strategic priorities for Copernicus, border management services and other relevant stakeholders. The event highlighted advances in AI and digital twin technologies applied to border surveillance, the importance of innovation, and the integration of multi-source data into a reference architecture for border security. Attending the event provided an excellent opportunity to strengthen institutional relations and establish strategic contacts with key stakeholders such as the European Fisheries Control Agency (EFCA), the European Space Agency (ESA), and the European Health and Digital Executive Agency (HaDEA). These actors play a crucial role not only in the evolution of Copernicus services but also in the wider ecosystem of Earth Observation and border security in which our activities in AI4COPSEC are embedded.
